MarinerMalaysia Rules and Code of Conduct MarinerMalaysia.com (MM) is a BLOG for discussing anything related to Marine Industry. We are also a uniquely Malaysian BLOG where many members are personally known to each other. Hence, a certain amount of non Marine related postings which serve to enhance offline friendships and camaraderie, are also permitted in the appropriate BLOG . However, please refrain from making childish, nonsensical, foolish and lewd postings which can damage the reputation of MM, and detract from our vision to become a useful and respected Malaysian online marine Community. Inappropriate postings will be deleted without notice, and the responsible party may be suspended or banned. Postings should be conducted as if you are talking to a real person, because there is a real person behind every nick. Troll like behavior, flaming, baiting, harassing and exasperating other members with sarcastic one liners intended to annoy, are not allowed. You should try to be constructive in your posts and add value to the topic under discussion. Try to be helpful, courteous and polite, and don't be rude, crude, sarcastic, spiteful, abusive, threatening, or hateful. Ideas can be challenged and debated, but you should refrain from attacking individuals on a personal level. Be helfpul especially to newbies, so that they can improve their skills as quickly as possible, and contribute towards adding value to our MM community. Remember, you were once a newbie yourself. Often the best response to an unfriendly posting is simply to ignore the post. Or you can bring it to the attention of Mods and Admins by clicking the red triangle icon at the top right hand corner of each post. Appropriate action will then be taken. Posters are assumed to hold the copyright for any image or written material that they post. So, upload only material which is your own copyright. You must respect copyright laws, and must not violate any Malaysian, International or Common Laws. All images and opinions posted in PM are the sole responsibility of their respective posters. By registering at MM you agree to indemnify MM owners, Administrators and Moderators against any claims arising from your posts, and your actions in MM BLOGS. You agree not to register multiple identities, and not to impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation to any person or entity. If detected you may be permanently banned. Please note that we record IP addresses, Whenever requested, the Administrators of MM will co-operate fully with all relevant authorities to bring law breakers to book. BLOG Postings and Image sizes must conform to the descriptors at the top of each forum. If unstated, your images should not exceed 640 pixels on their longest side, so as to present most readers with a comfortable viewing experience. Larger image sizes may be allowed under certain circumstances, but all postings and photos not conforming to regulations may be deleted without notice. Ideally you should include a short description of the images that you post – for example, what is the story behind the image. When you reply to a post, please note that it is not necessary to quote the photo as well. Do not embed images or create postings which are vulgar, lewd, pornographic obscene, profane, abusive, false, defamatory, libelous, inaccurate, rude, racist, disrespectful, hateful, harassing, threatening, racially or ethnically offensive, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. Frivolous and meaningless postings are also not welcome. Unnecessarily large fonts with garish colours, distractive elements, and offensive smileys should be minimized. Please also exercise restraint in the designs of your signatures and avatars. User names and avatars which are rude and offensive are not allowed. The assessment of what is offensive is the prerogative of Administrators and Moderators, who will force implement a user name change if needed. The animations in avatars may be very clever to you, but mostly, they tend to annoy others. Objectionable postings will be deleted. In severe transgressions, your posting privileges may be suspended, and you may be banned. A certain degree of tasteful and artistic nudity is tolerable, although these should be in the form of a HTML link with adequate warnings for minors, and members with a low tolerance for this type of art. Do not link or give information on MM forums about any site that distributes illegal software, pornography or illegal drugs. Do not use the forums to seek help to circumvent any copyright laws. MM does not condone software or media piracy, and any act in this context in MM forums, will be grounds for an immediate ban. As this is a predominantly Malaysian BLOG , please be especially aware of Malaysian racial, religious and political sensitivities, and please do not post anything that will incite any racial, communal, or religious ill-will, or which are likely to bring the wrath of the regulatory authorities upon MM and its Owners, Administrators and Moderators. Do not use these BLOG to instigate ill will against any party. Posts and actions championing pet protests, and urging boycotts of individuals, entities, organizations, government actions, or commercial enterprises will be deleted without warning. Do not attempt to access, or hack or crack any protected sections of the forums. And do not upload files that contain code which can damage the computers of MarinerMalaysia.com, or those of our members, or any other persons or entity. Such attempts will not only be grounds for an immediate and permanent ban, but may also subject you to criminal proceedings. Do not register under multiple identities. You should be aware that we can and do monitor IP addresses. Violators will be subjected to an immediate and permanent ban. Private Messaging is for personal use only. You are not allowed to use it as a mass-marketing tool. Offers to Buy or Sell merchandise are to be placed only in the appropriate Buy and Sell forums. As Spam is the scourge modern electronic media, we expressly disallow spam and blatant cross-postings and solicitations for commercial gain. Spammers will be subject to an immediate and permanent ban. Registration and participation in MarinerMalaysia is free and open to everyone. By registering to become a MM member, you are confirming your agreement to abide by all of MM’s rules and regulations, whether these are stated or unstated. Please note that membership of MM is a privilege and not a right, and the Administrators and Moderators of MM reserves the right to create, amend, add or subtract any and all of these rules and regulations at their absolute discretion, if in their judgment, any of these rules become inconsistent with their vision for this forum.
